Mason County Wins Over Bishop Brossart

Royals Too Much For Mustangs

Mason County improved to a stellar 28 and 2 on the season by beating Bishop Brossart 63 to 57 Saturday in a highnoon showdown at The Fieldhouse. The Royals withstood a late comeback attempt by the Mustangs to advance to the Tournament Finals on Sunday.

Mason County was up by 16 points over Brossart and in control of the game when the Mustangs surged in the fourth quarter and cut the lead to four with under a minute to play. The Royals responded with a late run of their own on a two handed slam by Senior Tony Browning and Darius Miller's clutch score off a Mustang's costly turnover.

The Royals once again got off to a fast start, outscoring the Mustangs 16 to 7 in the First Quarter, behind the hot shooting of Trevor Setty who finished with 10 points . Miller led all Scorers with 26 points and Russ Middleton had 17 including 11 of 15 from the line. Senior Brad Pawsat had 12 Rebounds.

Mason County will play the Clark County Cardinals in the Championship Game at 3pm Sunday.


Player of The Game : Darius Miller

Miller continued his excellent tournament play with 26 Points on 9 of 19 shooting from the field and 9 of 14 from the free throw line. Miller dominated defensively, in the paint and elsewhere, with 6 blocked shots and 4 steals.
